A Slice of the Strike Wrap-Up
TRANSIT STRIKE PIZZA WALK: ALL ENTRIES
I made it to work and am now on lunch break, so I thought I'd take this time to post a little wrap-up of the "Slice of the Strike" pizza walk.
First: Where did all the pizza go? Nine pizzerias in 8.2 miles? That's an average of 1.09 pizzerias per mile. And that's being generous. Marino's, a place with signs reading "pizza" and "udon," was more a serve-it-all Manhattan deli than a pizzeria. It seems the Big Apple's pizzerias have been forced off the avenues and major byways of the city, lurking on the sidestreets instead.
Second: It appears something was wrong this morning with the server that hosts Slice. I called Janelle after taking a photo of Peperoncino. She had a relatively easy commute, and I figured she'd be in front of a computer. She reported that Slice was not working but that my Flickr photostream of the walk was being updated via cameraphone. Dagnabbit. When did my server join the transit workers on strike?
Third: I get in to work, and then they report that the strike might end?! Ugh. Talk about fruitless labor.
Anyway, for all the photos gathered in one place, check my Flickr photostream: Slice of the Strike Pizza Walk

That was great Adam - fab idea. 8.2 miles is quite a trek into the office, but perfect for cleaning the pipes of a pizza/burger blogger.
BTW - it looks right parky in NYC today. I thought Saigon was chilly this month - 20C - but all the windows are open, no need for aircon for the last two weeks, nor a fan. It's lovely.

The exercise did me good. Yesterday and today. I was in a better mood and it actually gave me more energy, strangely enough. I think I might join a gym now.
"Parky." Hmm. Never heard that term before. But from context, I guess it means "cold" or "unpleasant." Today wasn't nearly as bad as yesterday. It warmed up a bit, and the walking keeps you warm.

Parky - yup - cold. Brit slang I guess:

Gym? Do I hear a new year's resolution coming on?
