DiFara: Blissfully Inefficient

He is an old man. His work has not been kind to his body and he shows his 69 years. He has been going home with flour on his shoes for nearly half a century. He does not run a restaurant - he makes pizza because he loves it.

I have done my nails on Avenue M for the last two years. I now live in Harlem, and recently read about Di Fara's. Yes, I drive to Brooklyn to do my nails -- I am from Miami -- so I drive everywhere. I cannot believe that for a year, I lived on Avenue M and NO ONE ever told me about this spot!!! All I saw were Kosher Pizza places...

Last week, I tried OTTO, o so disappointing, after paying $14 for a personal pizza. I convinced my friend to try it with me and I felt bad that he paid the bill. $34 for 2 personal pizzas!!! I thought I would make it up to him and invite him to Di Fara's.

This is how much I love good pizza, if I wasn't on my accupuncture diet, I would eat it everyday... I tried it for lunch at 12pm -- taste-tested it before I did my nails. Loved it!

I was there for about 20 minutes for 1 slice. Worried that my meter was going to expire -- do we still have to pay a meter on a Sunday, if it is a "Saturday Holiday" area??? -- I could only stare in awe and hunger because the meal was doubling as breakfast and lunch.

This man is an artist. He should have volunteers, that love the art of pizza as much as he does, helping him. I would volunteer just on the love of the slice. People waited and waited until they got their slice.

I went back for dinner and took my friend. We waited for about half an hour before we sat to eat. We ordered a whole pie... Delicious. The bottom of about two slices was overly burnt, but overall GREAT! The basil, the extra fresh cheese. Now I understand when all the articles I read said to make a day out of it. My friend was happy, he said it was the best yet -- and we eat a lot of pizza.

crappy pizza. substandard compared to nick's pizza in forest hills. waited for like 2 hours for a pie and i was completely disappointed. the crust was good. the cheese and sauce were bad. it was not as good as nick's flavor.
