D.C. Reader Tip: Radius Pizza

Dear Slice,
Dear SliceI couldn’t help but notice that you have no listings for good pizza in Washington, D.C.! Well, if you ever find yourself down this way, I strongly suggest you come to my neighborhood of Mount Pleasant and check out Radius Pizza. While I would not call it 100 percent New York–style pizza, it is awesome and has been rated the best pizza in D.C. by a congresswoman from Manhattan, albeit the Upper East Side. ;-)

In my opinion, Radius is the best pizza that Washington, D.C., has to offer.

Sincerely,
Gil G., Washington, D.C.

Dear Gil,
Thanks for the tip. What about 2 Amys? Slice has heard some great things about that place, too.

Hasta la pizza,
Adam

Where does a pizza eater cook or go on Thanksgiving?

radius is pretty bad in my opinion. nothing like the pies i had growing up in Jersey.... best pizza in dc is Vace, an Italian deli in Cleveland Park.

radius? i don't think so. just try to pick up a slice, the crust is limper than a spaghetti noodle, and i don't know whose hyperactive 5 yr old applies the cheese but there's way too much of it. i echo hackmuth, vace is great, and just outside dc in bethesda md there's a place called the corner slice that's not bad, either.

I find pizza from 2 Amy's to be soggy, too complex, salty, drench in oil, and not very satisfying. I think that place gets too much hype.

does anyone remember/know of an "a.v. pizzeria" in dc? i visited there in 1993 and the pies were outstanding. dimly lit place, melted candles on the tables.

Wow. Thank you for the rec-- Radius Pizza is excellent.

Best NY style (slice style) pizza in DC is at Washington Deli (20th and K). Not great, but about as good as the average (or below average) corner slice place in Manhattan. Vace is ok, but I thought it was a little weird.

Originally from outside Trenton. I grew up on Delorenzo's Tomato Pies (Hudson Street - of Course). I've lived in DC for 15 years and THERE'S NO GOOD PIZZA IN D.C. Vace & Italian Store in Arlington get the closest (Italian Store has great Hoagies), Corner Slice was pretty good as well. I also agree that 2 Amy's pizza is very overrated. While nothing close to NY style, a lot of locals swear by Ledo's Pizza (crisp cracker style, slightly sweet crust, with lots of cheese and sweetish tomato sauce).
